As the seasons change activity businesses who continue to offer activities should review risk assessments to ensure safety of participants and also looks at ways to protect your site from damage. 

Environmental & Property Safety

• Visibility: 

  Improve lighting in poorly lit areas and consider installing more lights, especially for outdoor spaces. 

• Walkways & Flooring: 

  Keep walkways clear of leaves, which can become slick when wet. Consider installing anti-slip flooring or mats at entrances to absorb water and provide grip. 

• Gritting: 

  Have a plan and sufficient grit on hand to treat areas prone to frost, ice, or snow. 

• Building & Equipment Integrity: 

  Inspect buildings for leaks, mould, or damage that could compromise safety, especially in damper weather. 

• Fire Safety: 

  Exercise caution with candles and space heaters, ensuring they are placed away from flammable materials and that cords are in good condition. Ensure fire doors are in working order, with proper seals. 

Communication & Training

• Communication: 

  Communicate seasonal safety tips to your team, and encourage them to report any potential hazards immediately. 

• Training: 

  Provide seasonal training for your staff so they can confidently manage risks like sudden rain, muddy paths, or chilly temperatures.
