On a wonderful sunny day in March we finally got together for our first in person event in two years. After surveying Members it was decided to hold the event in the Midlands this year. We travelled to Woodlands Adventure Centre for a great day of speakers, networking and discussion. We know that visits to Members centers are popular. The team at Woodlands were really helpful and let Members take a look around and also to try an activity of their choice, either High Ropes or a new spear throwing activity called AtlAtl which was warmly received with interest.
The packed agenda included Mike King from Releasing Potential who gave an inspiring talk about their work and how they survived the pandemic. Cyber risks and how you can be affected was covered by our legal expert from Plexus Law. The AIM Directors from Mendip Activity Centre and Rockley Watersports shared their extensive knowledge with relation to online sales and recruitment. There was much discussion surrounding staffing crisis, lessons learned and claims and also diversity and inclusivity in the outdoor sector.
From these discussions we can see that there is much opportunity to expand our knowledge and we may consider some more virtual sessions once the right facilitators are identified.
